Artificial Intelligence Notice – Use in Application Processing
The Government of Manitoba is committed to ensuring artificial intelligence (“AI”) tools and technologies are used effectively, transparently, and securely, with respect for privacy, public trust, and government accountability.
To improve service delivery, enhance efficiency and accuracy, and to reduce processing times, the Department of Justice and Department of Public Service Delivery have developed the Security Rebate Registry System (“System”). The System engages generative AI tools to assist departmental staff in the review of Security Rebate Program (“Program”) applications and supporting documents.
The System will analyze the supporting documents you have attached as part of your application to confirm they are legitimate and match the information in your application form. Documents which are not approved following this review, or which return lower confidence scores, will be routed for manual review by departmental staff. Implementing AI tools in this way is expected to support consistent decision-making, detect potential errors and inconsistencies, and result in faster turnaround times.
The System’s AI tools will not retain your personal information, and your personal information and supporting documents will not be used to train AI tools. All decisions made by AI tools are subject to human oversight, and applicants have the right to request a manual review of their application and supporting documents by departmental staff at any time.
The Government of Manitoba is committed to transparency and the ethical use of AI tools, ensuring that all AI-generated content and AI-assisted decision-making is regularly reviewed and monitored for accuracy, relevancy and fairness.
To request a manual review of your application and supporting documents by departmental staff, please contact the Security Rebate Program by phone at 204-945-2500 or 1-888-246-8353 (Toll Free).
